or Arosa accommodation? Arosa is a municipality in the canton of Graubunden, in Switzerland, and is as both a summer and winter resort.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of the Sherlock Holmes series, was an avid sportsman, and, whilst spending winter time in Davos, ordered some “skiing boards” from Norway, hiked up the mountain with two guides, skied down into Arosa, where they then had lunch at the Seehof Inn, the first hotel in Arosa. In 1894, he wrote of his adventure in Davos/Arosa, in a British magazine, The Strand, which, since then, has attracted many British skiers to Switzerland.
Arosa also has horseracing in winter, on the frozen Obersee, one of two lakes in the area, the other being the Untersee. Many other outdoor and indoor activities are offered to visitors to the resort.
