or Ascona accommodation? The town of Ascona is ideed a beautiful one, situated on the shore of Lake Maggiore. It is a small town with a population of about only 5000 people but this doesn’t stop tourists from visiting this lovely place that hosts a yearly jazz festival in summer called the New Orleans Jazz Festival Ascona during late June and early July. It is a monumental event that lasts for 10 days and people from all over the world come in masses to partake in the merriment.
Ascona’s lovely Mediterranean climate makes it a tourist favorite all year round. The heart of the city must certainly be the lakeside promenade called The Piazza where you have a panoramic view of Lake Maggiore. Have a light luch and a refreshing drink at one of the many outdoor cafe’s and venture into the streets in search of art and antiques and designer clothing. Just walking around town has its own rewards as the architecture itself with its arches and granite piazzas and frescoes intermingled with ever-present flowers breathe history and delight into every corner and is a wonderful treat for the eyes.
There really is something for everyone is Ascona: beautiful golf courses, tennis courts, first rate restaurants, museums and galleries, Renaissance courtyards, romantic parklands, valleys, waterfalls, woods, deep ravines and scenic villages. Boat rides are available year round and they take you out to breathtaking Isole di Brissago, which is a group of two island on the lake famous for its botanical gardens.
