or Asti accommodation? Asti is a city located in the Piedmont region of north-western Italy. It is about 55 kilometres east of Turin in the plain of the Tanaro River. Asti s considered to be the modern capital of Monferrato.
Asti is a commercial and industrial center, famous for its sparkling wine. The city, which retains its medieval appearance, has a fine Gothic cathedral, medieval palaces and merchant houses with monumental towers. Some of the attractions include the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta, Santa Maria Nuova, Sa Martino, Rossi di San Maria Assunta and its rich architectural history.
Asti is also well known for its many towers such as Torre de Regibus, Torre Troyana, Tower of the Comenti and Rossa di San Secondo built during the Rome Emperor Augustus reign. One of Asti famous events is the Palio di Asti which is held in September in which neighbouring towns compete in bare back horse race followed by the medieval pageant.
