or Austin accommodation? Austin is the capital city of the state of Texas in the United States of America. It is located in Central Texas in the American Southwest. It is the fourth largest city in the state and the 15th largest in the entire country. It has a population of approximately 757,000 and is the economic and cultural center of the Austin-Round Rock Metropolitan Area.
The city was first inhabited by nomadic Native American tribes that included the Tonkawa, Comanches and Lipan Apaches tribes. Pioneers began to settle on it in the early 1830s and named it Waterloo. At that time it was then considered the capital of the independent Republic of Texas. It was named after Stephen F. Austin who is considered the father of Texas. The city was named by Money Magazine as the number two best city to live and in 2009, Austin was also named the ‘Greenest City in America.’
The city is one of the fastest growing United States cities and has one of the best economies in the country. Its main industries are technology and computer science. It is also a center for economic activities such as those by pharmaceuticals and biotechnology companies. Advertising is also one of the businesses that are rapidly developing in the area. Austin City also offers some of the best education systems in the country.
Some points of interest in the city are the Texas Memorial Museum, Blanton Museum of Art, Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, Harry Ransom Center, Driskill Hotel, Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge, and Austin Zoo.
