Portugal)
or Aveiro accommodation? The city of Aveiro, in Portugal, is sometimes called the ‘Portuguese Venice.’ This is thanks to the moliceiros, or painted boats, that float up and down the network of canals, rivers and bridges. To reach Aveiro, you will have to drive, take the bus, or the train, from a major centre like Porto or Lisbon, but once there, walking, the boats, or buses, like the Aveiro City Tour, will get you around. Aveiro is an interesting historic town, and there are a variety of cultural sites to visit, like the Aveiro Cathedral, the Museum, the Museum of the Republic and others, or you could opt to visit the fisherman’s wharf and market. There is also a beach called Costa Nova that’s popular with surfers and sun worshippers, and there is windsurfing on the river. If you like seafood, then the Restaurante Mercado de Peixe, at the upper end of the fish market is the place to eat, and many of the bars in town are in this area too. The Hotel Moliceiro is the most prestigious and luxurious in town, and while there aren’t any major hotel chains here, there are smaller, more budget friendly choices too. - Browse the Aveiro Map or compare Aveiro accommodation from Hotels, Motels, B&Bs,
