Searching for hotels in Bad Hersfeld (Germany) or Bad Hersfeld accommodation?  Bad Hersfeld is a spa and festival town located in Hersfeld-Rotenburg northeast of Hesse, Germany, approximately 50 km southeast from Kassel. The town was named Bad Hersfeld in 1949 but changed to Hessian State Spa. In the area there are approximately 216 buildings that are known historical sites. In the Old Town there are wooden frame and beautiful gravel houses like the Küsterhaus which dates back to 1452.
The Town Museum is situated in the wing of the pervious monastery compound that is still saved. The Hersfelder Stadtkirche is still a huge town landmark, with a clock tower that is visible throughout the town. During the summer the area of an ancient monastery that is on the west side of the Old Town is where the major opera and art festival of the region is held. This festival is called Bad Hersfelder Festival and consists of art events and concerts during the months of June and August. There is also a Jazz Festival during the floating weekend in June.
The town has two mineral springs, one is called Lullusquelle which was drilled in 1904 and the other called Vitalisbrunnen which was drilled in 1949. The water contains Glauber's salt. The mineral water is also being bottled since 2006 and is now available. The primary use of the spa is for drinking and bathing treatments which deal with gall bladder, liver, stomach, metabolic and intestinal sickness, also musculoskeletal sickness, psychosomatic sickness and rheumatic disorders.
