or Bali accommodation? Bali is an island in Indonesia, which is perhaps most known for its white sand beaches and for its resort industry. It belongs to the province of Denpasar and as of 2005 it has an estimated population of over 3 million. Aside from the tourism, Bali is also known for its culture and highly developed art, dance, painting, metalwork, and music niches.
Bali is said to have been inhabited as far back as 2000 BC by Austronesian people who migrated from Taiwan. The culture and language of Bali is closely related to its neighbors like the Philippines and islands in Oceania. The Dutch were the first to make European contact with the city. It was later occupied by Imperial Japan. The city and the country later on gained its freedom. Today, it is a thriving tourist hub.
The city’s tourist industry is mainly focused towards the south end of the island. Other industries in Bali revolve around the service and agricultural industry. The tourist industry in the city suffered greatly from terrorist attacks. The year 2008, however, saw a rise in Bali’s tourist rates with an increased number of foreigners visiting the island.
The city is served by buses, public transport vehicles, taxis, and by the Ngurah Rai International Airport. The Lt Col Wisnu Airfield is also found on the island. There are no railway lines on the island, but coastal roads help keep transportation moving.
