or Bautzen accommodation? Bautzen is the capital of the eponymous district and a city Saxony, Germay. The city is situated on the Spree River which is approximately 50km east of Dresden. Bautzen is often regarded as the unofficial, but historical capital of Upper Lusatia, and it is the most important cultural center of the Slavic minority of the Sorbs. Bautzen has a very compact and well preserved medieval town centre with a multitude of churches and towers. Close to the city there is the chapterhouse of the Cathedral and a monument of Elector Johann Georg I. The city also boasts some beautiful fountains and sculptures that decorate the area; you can also visit the Old Water Tower which dates back to the 16th century and is now home to the Museum of Technology. There is also a new Water Tower built, done by the descendants of the builders who built the old tower. Burgstadt still maintain its ancient look and feel with its history and old buildings. The Castle Pharmacy and the House of Estates can be seen along Schlossstraße and An der Petrikirche. At Bautzen visitor can enjoy the ruins of the Monk's Church, a journey on the Peace Bridge, the awesome Schloss Ortenburg or a beautiful view from the Schoolboy's Tower.
