or Bhimtal accommodation? Bhimtal is a town named after a legendary character, Bhim of Mahabharata. The town can be found 1,371 km above sea level in the state of Uttarakhand, India. The lake is 1701 metres by 265 metres and it is located 1371.60 metres above sea level. The island within the lake is an ideal place for lunch as it has on it a restaurant which provides local cuisine. The Bhimeshwar temple complex can also be found along the lake. This temple was built by Bhim in the17th century and is devoted to Lord Shiva. The Nag temple located on the Karkotaka hill is usually visited for blessings from ‘Nag Karkota Maharaj’. At the Bhimtal folk culture museum, visitors can enjoy exhibitions on tribal and folk life, ancient manuscripts, images of god and goddesses, agricultural implements and costumes.
