The Botanischer Garten is Bielefeld’s municipal botanical garden. It is home to a beautiful alpine garden with over 500 varied plant species and 2500 plant varieties of other trees. It is a splendid picnic and relaxation area. Nachtansichten is a popular event in April where museums, churches and galleries have an “open night”. There is also the exciting medieval market at the Sparrenburg Festival in May and the Stadtwerke run & roll day in September. The Christmas Market in December is one of the most colorful events. Here, 11 museums highlight special exhibitions starting from November month end.
