The port harbor is also host to many local events such as the Brookings Harbor Festival every third weekend of August, which celebrates the culture and history of the city. The beaches of the city offer a whole array of activities for tourists. The best beaches for body boarding, bodysurfing and surfing are the Sportshaven Beach and the Harris Beach State Park. These beaches are also the perfect spots for whale watching from late March to April.
Brookings can be accessed via the Brookings Airport. Tourists may also get to the city with the help of the Coastal Express, which is a public transit service connecting the city to Smith River and North Bend, California. Getting around the city is accomplished with the help of the POINT, a transit services that also connects people to the Klamath Falls.
