Bury is actually a part of the greater Manchester area, in the Lancashire County in North West England, but it has an interesting history of it’s own, and a few unique attractions to offer visitors. Getting into Bury is relatively easy – thanks to the nearby Manchester Airport, and then there are buses, known as the Metrolink and the number 135 that will take you into Bury itself. When in Bury, make sure that you sample the local Black Pudding, as it’s this town that claims invention of this delicacy. Wednesday’s, Fridays and Saturdays are market days in Bury, and it’s then that you’ll be able to buy your Black Pudding, along with just about everything else you can think of. There’s a historic parish church in the centre of town, and there’s also the Peel Tower, which is, admittedly, a steep hike up a hill, but that offers an uninterrupted view clear into Wales on a clear day. As far as food goes, Ramsons in Ramsbottom is the place to dine – it’s an award winning restaurant, but that does mean that it’s usually booked up in advance!
