or Byron accommodation? Byron City, which is located in Georgia, was nicknamed ‘Number One and One-Half Station,’ after its beginnings as a train-stop for the Southwestern Railroad. While it started as a peach plantation community, Byron is now a flourishing small city with a number of interesting retail shops, restaurants malls and service establishments.
In Main Street–Byron’s historic downtown–visitors will find antique homes, some of which even date back to the country’s pre-war era. Also found therein are renovated original structures of the city dating back to the 1800’s such as a museum, jailhouse park, jail and drugstore. Some of the 200 antique dealers in the city have shops in nearby streets with an excellent array of antique and rare items. Other areas in the city include the Jan’s Kuntry Villa, The Byron Depot, New South Cottage, Walker and Nash Home, Memories Inn and the Peavy/Robertson Home.
Other than the annual Christmas Parade, the city is also popular for the annual community fund-raising event called the Battle of Byron. The event which began in 1979 is being held today on the first Sunday of May every year. Tourists flock to see the festival with its sports competitions, arts and crafts show, food fair and other entertainment.
Tourists may be accommodated by the hotels in the city, including the Knight Inn, Holiday Inn Express & Suites, Econo Lodge, Days Inn and the Best Western Inn & Suites. - Browse the Byron Map or compare Byron accommodation from Hotels, Motels, B&Bs,
