or Cadillac accommodation? The City of Cadillac is also known to be the City on the Lakes and is located in Wexford County, in the State of Michigan, the United States; it is the seat of the county. The original county seat was in Sherman but was moved to Manton in 1881, Michigan, then, a show of force in the “Battle of Manton” pushed the controversial decision to move the seat to Cadillac.
Cadillac’s first white visitors were European explorers and traders involved in the logging industry during the 1700s. First named as Clam Lake, the village was incorporated in 1874, then, as a city in 1877. During the incorporation as city, the name was changed to Cadillac in honor of Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac.
Some of the most interesting and popular places in the city include the Caberfae Ski Area which is the oldest ski resort in the whole of Midwest, the City Park with its Kris Eggle Memorial Fountain, Charles T. Mitchell House, Cobbs & Mitchell No. 1, and the Shay Locomotive.
