Campbell River is the gateway to Strathcona Park to the west, the Discovery Islands to the east, and the remote North Island and west coast of Vancouver Island. It boasts a population of over 31, 000 people. Campbell River can be accessed by air, land and water. Campbell River is situated in an area rich in natural resources, where the forestry industry, logging companies, pulp factories and sawmill are extremely active. Another active industry in Campbell River is mining, thereby producing a diverse range of products including zinc, copper, lead, gold, silver and coal.
The township hosts an active arts and culture scene, and is completely surrounded by shopping malls, while maintaining its 50’s look and feels. This scenic location has also been used by filmmakers.
Some of its main attraction locations include Discovery Pier jutting into Discovery Passage, the Popular fishing Spot, Hig-Brown House, a 1923 farm-house, situated among the forests and gardens beside the Campbell River. The native heritage of Campbell River is on exhibit in the Museum.
There are many other activities to do apart from the annual events (e.g. Drift wood contest, Rotary Seawalk) such as Boat cruising, Bird watching, flight-seeing, golf, diving, and snorkelling among other things. There are also special activities for the children.
