Trade days actually start from Thursday until Sunday before the first Monday of each month, with the last two days inviting more shoppers than the first two. Covering an area of 100 acres, visitors can find just about anything in the flea market. Food vendors usually offer homemade breakfasts, popcorn, sausage, lemonade and funnel cakes.

Every August, Canton hosts the Van Zandt County Fair and Rodeo, where a carnival also operates. Shows include eating and cooking contests among locals, pet shows, rodeos, open horse and musical concerts.
