or Carmarthen accommodation? The town of Carmarthen is the county town of Carmarthenshire in Wales. It is a small, peaceful historic town, and although there is not much in the way of hustle and bustle, it is a nice place to get away from it all. According to legend, this is the birthplace of the wizard Merlin, and this has been confirmed in a twelfth century history book. To reach Carmarthen, you will need to take a train from London or Swansea, or drive, but once you are in the town, walking or cycling is the easiest way to get around. Carmarthen Castle’s ruins are right in the centre of the town, so they are really easy to explore. Then there is the Carmarthen County Museum, which gives a little more insight into the history of the area, and the Carmarthen Market has an interesting mix of local products and stranger items. Caban y Dderwen, on Mansel Street, is a popular café style eatery, and there are a few bed and breakfasts in the area around town. - Browse the Carmarthen Map or compare Carmarthen accommodation from Hotels, Motels, B&Bs,
