or Carpentras accommodation? Carpentras is a city located in the Provence of the Rhone at the foot of the Mont Ventoux, in France, sheltered from the Mistral wind. Carpentras is a papal land from 1229 to 1791, and offers you the chance to look at its spruce ochre façades, cool lanes and fountains, which makes city a fortunate vacation spot for those who want to savour the Provençal way of life.
Carpentras boasts a landscape with an air of the Italian countryside, dotted with gorgeous villages warming up in the southern sun. For all its ancient relics, Carpentras boasts some wonderful attraction for you to see and explore, such as the Musée Comtadin which features fantasies of a seventeenth-century cardinal frescoed. The Palais de Justice is attached to the beautiful Cathédrale St-Siffrein, of which almost hidden in a corner. Near the cathedral is a Roman arch that is decorated with scenes of prisoners in chains. The door they passed through, the Porte Juif, is on the southern side and bears strange symbolism of arts and the synagogue is a seventeenth-century creation on fourteenth-century foundations, making it the oldest surviving place of Jewish worship in France.
Carpentras is lively, however, every Friday the market is the place to be, where you may purchase your souvenirs or taste some wonderful truffles, and during festival time in the second half of July. It also makes a useful base for tour into the Dentelles, Mont Ventoux areas.
