or Cayce accommodation? Located along the Congaree River, Cayce is a city in the Richland and Lexington counties in the U.S. state of South Carolina. Since Cayce shares road names and schools with its neighboring town of West Columbia, they are both frequently referred to as Cayce-West Columbia. Politically, however, they are separate towns.
Cayce’s development was greatly affected by the dominant role which the Congaree River played in it. Along with other local governments, Cayce developed the Riverwalk along the Congaree, providing walking, nature observation and jogging opportunities. The development which occurred on both sides of the river plays a big role in the driving of the city’s economy.
European settlement dates back to the 1700’s when Cayce was considered part of Granby which is a town which failed due to endemic malaria. The town was incorporated in 1914 and named for local businessman William J. Cayce.
