Some attractions in Certaldo are Boccaccio’s House, which was restored in 1823 and furnished with attractive, old furniture. There is a statue of Boccaccio in the main square, which was erected in 1875. The residence of the Florentine Governors, The Palazzo Pretorio, or Vicariale, which has been restored to its original condition, and has a beautiful façade. A ceramic Coat of Arms can be seen on the outside of the building, and inside, one can see various frescoes dating back to the 13th to 16th centuries.
There are several festivals held in the town during the year. The largest, and most famous being the Mercantia, which is a week long party, and involves acts by street performers from Italy, Europe, and the Americas.
