India)
or Colva accommodation? Colva lies midway along the longest strip of sand in Goa, India. The Colva beach is one of the longest in the world; the sparkling white and emerald blue waters of the Colva beach which comes full of life from early November to late March. The sapphire blue skies and a fair temperature of 30 degrees C (86 F) attract sun loving tourists in hordes. December and January are the peak months when prices soar. Colva is about 25 km south of Dabolim Airport.
Colva means beach life but you can escape it every now and then. Margao is the nearest town to make you feel what Indian cities are like: crowded, chaotic but utterly charming. During the monsoon from June to September only a trickle of tourists head for the beaches to enjoy the sunny stretches in between torrential downpours.
Colva's main road begins at the beach front roundabout and heads east into Colva village. The Indian Ocean at dawn gives the beach a sparkling carpet of white sand, and undisturbing tranquility. Nightlife tends to wind down too soon in Colva. However, shops along the main road close between 7.30 am 8 pm. Restaurants stay open longer but by 10.30 pm it is pretty quiet everywhere. Most tourists just relax at the local bars or shops during the evenings with the locals.
The beach has a number of good resorts on the coast and with guesthouses spring up all over; the seafront makes up extraordinary nonstop string of tree shacks on stilts for a more easygoing ambiance.
