Como’s 14th century Duomo Cathedral features both Gothic and Renaissance architecture. San Fedele is an attractive 12th century Romanesque church and Sant'Agostino, built by the Cistercians in the early 14th century has splendid Baroque decorations. The main museums in the town are the Archaeological Museum, Museo Storico, Museo della Seta and a museum devoted to Alessandro Volta's work, the Tempio Voltiano. The medieval ancient walls of the city are worth checking out, as well as the Social Theatre and the famous Casa del Fascio by Giuseppe Cusi and the monumental fountain known as Volta's Fountain dedicated to Volta's battery.
