or Dallas accommodation? Dallas is the third largest city in the state of Texas. It has a population of 1.3 million people and a land area of 997.1 square kilometers. It has been considered as one of the fastest growing cities in the United States, and also as a beta world city by the Globalization and World Cities Study Group & Network. T
The city was formerly inhabited by Native American Indians during the 18th century. The area was later colonized by the Viceroyalty of New Spain by the Spanish Empire. French colonizers also came and tried to claim the area, however, Spanish rule still prevailed. In 1845, the Republic of Texas was annexed and brought as a part of the United States of America, and was later incorporated in 1856.
At present, Dallas is one of the most highly urbanized and modern cities in the country. The city’s economy primarily started with farming and agriculture, which today has expanded to industrialization, banking, commerce, trade, computer technology, energy and especially telecommunications. As a matter of fact, it is known as a ‘silicon prairie’ due to the huge numbers of telecommunications companies that abound the area.
Dallas has also evolved as a tourist destination for years. It serves around two million visitors every year. Some places of interest in the city are the Cotton Bowl, Dallas Museum of Art, The Sixth Floor Museum, Nasher Sculpture Center, Southern Methodist University, Dallas Zoo, Reunion Tower, Southfork Ranch and Fair Park.
