or Del Rio accommodation? Del Rio is the county seat of the Val Verde County of Texas, United States; it is also a border city in the county. The city is, perhaps, best known for being the American address of XERA and XERF, two legendary Mexican radio stations located in Ciudad Acuña, not far from the US–Mexico border.
The city was once called as the San Felipe del Rio after the supposed Mass on St. Philip’s Day held by Spanish explorers near the river town in 1635. When the post office was established in the city, the name was shortened to Del Rio so as not to be confused with San Felipe de Austin.
Many popular attractions are located in Del Rio – the Amistad National Recreation area which has one of the largest lakes in Texas, Seminole Canyon State Historical Park which contains many pictographs considered to be the oldest on Earth, San Felipe Springs and Moore Park, and Whitehead Memorial Museum which features the history of the city are just some of the popular choices.
