or Deming accommodation? Deming is part of the Luna County of New Mexico. It was founded in 1881 and incorporated as a city in 1902, and was nicknamed as ‘New Chicago’ during its primal years. It used to be an important port of entry for trade coming in from the country of Mexico until the Gadsden Purchase of 1853.
The city is home to the Chihuahuan Desert which is home to a wide variety of exotic plants. Such plants found in the area are the creosote bush, honey mesquite and the soap tree yucca. A wide variety of animal species can also be found in the desert including jack rabbits, cottontail rabbits, kangaroo rats, porcupines and snakes. Parks such as the Rockhound State Park and City of Rocks State Park, also feature Deming’s native wildlife and greenery other than serving as places for numerous recreational pursuits.
Other attractions in and about Deming include the Deming Armory, Harvey House, Customs House, and museums like the Deming Luna Mimbres Museum, Western New Mexico University Museum, and Columbus Historical Museum.
