or Desert Hot Springs accommodation? Desert Hot Springs, often shortened as DHS by locals, is a city located in the Coachella Valley of Riverside County, California, United States. The city had a population of 16,582 in 2000 (based on data from the US Census Bureau) but experienced significant growth so that the 2008 census estimate indicates that the city has 25,000 residents. The city owns a total of 60.3 square kilometers of land and (0.13%) water.
The city was named as Desert Hot Springs because of the natural hot mineral water aquifers in the area. These aquifers have become the source of tourism in the area. There are many spa resorts there, making the city as one of the most popular resorts frequented by celebrities.
It was Cabot Yerxa who first built a homestead in the area where he discovered hot water on one side of Miracle Hill and cold water on the other side. Today, the area is visited due to the hot water aquifers and is home to the Desert Hot Springs Hotel, also a local landmark. - Browse the Desert Hot Springs Map or compare Desert Hot Springs accommodation from Hotels, Motels, B&Bs,
