or Dubrovnik accommodation? Despite its popularity with cruise ships and tourist hordes, Dubrovnik retains its appeal. It's truly special, an ancient walled city full of marble streets and baroque buildings basking in the Adriatic sun.
The best thing to do in Dubrovnik is to take a walk on the ancient city walls, which afford a great view of the city and of the Adriatic beyond the seaward walls. Notable buildings are many, but include the Bell Tower, the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin, and the Rector's Palace, which houses a museum dedicated to the city's history.
The best way to soak up the city is to take an afternoon stroll on the Placa Stradun, which is the central street.
One of the best cafe/bars in Dubrovnik is Buža. You get there by going through a hole in the wall on the south (seaward) side of the town. The tables and chairs are set out on the side of the cliff facing the Adriatic, and in the late afternoon sunshine it's a magical experience.
There are some easy-reachable and beautiful islands off the coast of Dubrovnik, including the Island of Lokrum, and Mljet.
