This has included being the birthplace of Andrew Carnegie, once the world’s richest man, and being the ancient capital of Scotland. Dunfermline Abbey, which dates from the 11th century, is one of the biggest attractions in the town. Some of the building is ruined, but the remaining parts are quite amazing. Then there is the original Carnegie Hall, and the world famous Carnegie Library. Pittencrieff Park, bought and donated to the town by Carnegie, is another popular destination in the town.
