or Easter Island accommodation? Easter Island is over 2,000 miles from Tahiti and Chile, making it one of the most isolated places on Earth. The early settlers called the island "Te Pito O Te Henua" which means Navel of The World. Admiral Roggeveen, who came upon the island on Easter Day in 1722, named it Easter Island. It's also one of the most mystifying places on Earth, possessing a history that still remains unclear. One of the most exciting things to do is search for moai and ahu. One of the most famous sites on the island is Rano Raraku, where you can find 70 moai rises from the earth. You can also find the remains of more than 150 figures laying in a nearby volcanic crater, where the rock for the moai was extracted. It's still not known how the moai were moved from rock quarries to other parts of the island. The Church of the Holy Cross is one of the landmarks in the village,Rano Raraku. The yearly Easter Island festival is, Tapati Rapa Nui, which began in 1975 as a song and poetry festival; “Tapati” takes place at the peak of the summer season, usually at the end of January and the first of February. Accommodation is available in hotels and residencies where the only difference between these types of accommodations is supposedly based on the number of rooms and type of accommodations. - Browse the Easter Island Map or compare Easter Island accommodation from Hotels, Motels, B&Bs,
