The County consists of the heart of Nature Park Altmühltal, Germany's second-largest nature park. The area between the Rivers Altmühl and Danube has been a land of culture since prehistoric times. At Kipfenberg, the grave of 'the ancient Bavarian' was discovered. He served in the border troops of the Roman Empire and the site is also a big attraction.
