or Elounda accommodation? Elounda is a small fishing town on the northern coast of the island of Crete in Greece. It is part of the city of Agios Nikolaos, and the state of Lasithi. The view from the top is unique that on a clear day it is possible to see the whole of Mirabello Bay and all the way to the eastern tip of Crete. There are many sights for you to see while in Elounda, such as the mighty fortress built in 1579, by the Venetians on the ruins of an ancient acropolis. Elounda beach is a good stretch of grey sand and shingle with plenty of water sport facilities and waterside tavernas. It is popular for swimming and especially snorkelling. The beach has clear water, hidden coves and the attraction of Olous, which is an underwater ancient city.
In Elounda you can enjoy the view of Merabelou Bay and Korfou. The town is built 1 km west of ancient Elounda and is one of the centers of Minoan civilization. Nowadays Elounda has seven villages and the most famous of them is the coastal Schisma; so don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy a tour from Elounda to Spinalonga Island which is located on the north side of the bay and is an old stronghold to protect Elounda from pirates.
