The most notable attraction in Fairborn is the National Museum of the US Air Force. It is the national aviation museum which houses historical airplanes that paved way for the development of air flight technology. The collection includes 400 aircrafts which dates back from the Wright brothers’ aircrafts to those during World War I and World War II. It features airplanes used by the US military during the many wars in which the US was involved in the past, including some foreign military aircrafts, US presidential aircrafts, and one-of-a-kind aircrafts of historical significance. Admission is free in the museum, which opens daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. except on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Visit one of Fairborn’s 18 parks and recreational areas for free, which include 15 shelters, a skate park and 3 fishing areas. For family enjoyment, tourists can also take a stroll at Community Park’s nature trail and discover the one of best gardens in Ohio at the Mercer Smith House. Two of the best stores for shopping in Fairborn are the Foy’s Store and The Bookery. Kids will surely love the Foy’s Store, which is an all-year-round Halloween Store selling rare Halloween finds, and which has the biggest assortment of Halloween items in Ohio. The Bookery, on the other hand, sells antique action figures, comic books and assorted goods.
While in Fairborn, sit back and enjoy a community concert or performance during its regular Free-on-Friday concerts, which promptly begins at 7:30 p.m. The best time for tourists to visit this place is every August during its Sweet Corn Festival, where local handmade arts and crafts are put on display and where food vendors sell local food and corn products. Other events to watch out for in Fairborn are the annual USAF Marathon during Septembers and the Fourth of July Parade.
