or Florida City accommodation? Florida City in Miami-Dade County of the State of Florida in the United States is the southernmost city in the country that is not located on an island. The area on which the city will be built later on was first named as Detroit – this land has no infrastructure or building of any kind so that when the first families came to the area in 1910 to live there, they had to stay at the nearby city of Homestead until they had already finished their homes.
When the town was incorporated in 1914, its name was changed to Florida City. Located on top of the Miami Rock Ridge, the city varies in elevation from 5 to 8 feet above sea level. Today, the city is home to several parks – Willie Fasulo Park, Loren Robert's Park, Washington Park, Pine Tree Park, Biscayne National Underwater Park, Everglades National Park, John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, Black Point Park, and Homestead Bayfront Park that also serve as local points of interest. Other attractions include the Everglades Alligator Farm, Homestead Motorsports Park, Robert Is Here (popular fruit stand), and Coral Castle.
