The City of Forsyth is the location of the Monroe County Recreation Department which owns the Recreation Sports Complex that has several playing fields for various ball games, a Youth Center that includes a meeting room and other facilities (including a basketball court), two ponds, and various facilities for picnics, hiking, sports, and other recreational activities. The city is also famous for its Forsyth Commercial Historic District which features a commercial district that began in the middle of the 1800s. Other attractions include the Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge, Jarrell Plantation Historic Site, Forsythia Festival, and the High Falls State Park.
