The magnificent City Pharmacy date back to the 16th century and is the second best preserved Renaissance building in the town.

The Gera Zoo is an ideal place in the city for family outings. The Botanical Gardens beside the history zoo is the last surviving garden in front of the eastern wall and has over 300 plant species, culinary herbs, and medical plants as well as a historical 1800s tower. Gera’s popular sports include cycling, boxing, bull riding and skating. Mountan bike trails can be found in the woods. National and international competitions in show jumping and dressage are held each year. A variety of entertaining cultural performances and art exhibitions fill the city’s calendar right through the year.
