or Gloucester accommodation? The city of Gloucester is the furthest inland port city in England, on the river Severn, and is the county town of Gloucestershire. The Gloucestershire Airport is near to the town of Gloucester, so flying in from Jersey is an option, or you could opt for a bus, train, or drive to the town. Buses and bicycles, as well as walking, are ideal for getting around the town itself, although to explore the surrounding area, you will want a car. Harry Potter fans will want to make the trip to see the Gloucester Cathedral, as it is here that parts of the famous movies were filmed. It is, of course, also a historic site in its own right. Then there’s Prinknash Abbey, with its replica of the 325 AD mosaic, abbey and gardens. Also historic, although a little more obscure is the Roman toilet that is viewable just outside town. Interesting, if a little mundane! The Folk Museum and the City Museum and Art Gallery offer more history and culture, and of course, the famous Severn Bore, in the river near town, is also worth a visit.
