or Gorey accommodation? Gorey is a town situated in the county of Wexford, in Ireland. The town stands at an elevation of 48 m above sea level. From Dublin, the township of Gorey is a one hour drive away. Gorey was once called the “Town of Newborough” by Bishop Tomas Ram under a charter dated 19th October 1619.
While in Gorey, you cannot miss the old market house. This Victorian style building was constructed in the 18th century and is the site for the North Wexford Tourist office as well as being the administrative centre. Historically the building act as detention centre for prisoners during the 1798 uprisings.Other attractions sites in the town of Gorey include the Methodist Church, Court House, Erasmus Smith School House, Church of Ireland, Skate and Town Park.
The Gorey Arts Festival is an annual two-week festival which takes place in August and must not be missed. The festival offers a mixture of events such as Jazz concerts, puppet shows, photography and art exhibitions, theatrical performances and traditional Irish readings.
