or Hakuba accommodation? Hakuba is a skiing resort in Nagano prefecture, in the Chubu district of Japan. Hakuba can be reached by either train or bus, the latter being the better option as it is cheaper. If you are visiting Hakuba outside of the winter months, there are plenty of bike trails and walking paths to get around the area, and if you are a little way out of Hakuba proper, many hostels offer bike rental for you to get around. They offer private lessons for skiers and snowboarders, in English, and they rent the basic equipment too. There are plenty of hot spring baths in the Hakuba area, which is a perfect way to soak away the aches and pains after a day on the slopes. Juro No-Yu is 10 minutes walk from Kamishiro station, and is open 24 hours a day from December to March. Tenjin No-Yu and Ritsuo Utchikawa are 15minutes and 3 minutes respectively from Hakuba station.
Restaurants are plentiful in Hakuba, and dishes offered range from English, including homemade apple pie, to hearty western style meals like steaks and burgers, to French, Mexican, Indian and, of course, Japanese. Tracks Bar is one of Hakuba’s most popular nightspots, and some others are, White Horse Bar, Yamano Hotel Bar, Hie, Tomatito and Off Piste, in short, something for everyone. For budget accommodation, there are many to choose from, namely, The Lab Hakuba, Snowbeds Backpackers, Hakuba Alps Backpackers, Mt Hakuba Backpackers, K’s Hostel Hakuba, Maison de Sasagawa or Gladerunner Lodge. Mid-range accommodation includes Double Black Hotel, Shakespeare Hotel, Echo Hotel, Yamano Hotel Hakuba, Blue Dragon Hakuba, Hakuba House, the highest lodge in Hakuba, Pension Hayaokidori, Morino Lodge, Green Valley Hakuba and Lodge tabi-tabi. All of these are excellent, so no matter which one you choose, you will be assured of a great stay.
