Heiligenblut is known for the National park Hohe Tauern and the Großglockner Hochalpenstraße. The Großglockner Hochalpenstraße is the panoramic road directing to the glacier and pinnacle of Austria's highest mountain.
Heiligenblut is the second-most visited town of Austria and means "Holy Blood". This was named after a Danish prince known as Briccius who was killed by an avalanche in that area. Heiligenblut was once a gold mining area between ancient history to the middle ages, but presently it is chiefly a tourism and mountaineering resort area. In Europe the Tauern Mountain Range was the most extensive source of gold. Mining commenced under Roman rule and terminated in the 1940's. Since the 1930's, skiing became prominent and eventually made the area a year-round tourist destination. After Großglockner Hochalpenstraße opened in 1935, tourism intensified.

After settling within a place of your choice there are few attractions and places to visit. In the winter season there are skiing, snow hiking, ski lodges, sledding, and ice curling. There is also skiing schools provided and ski guides. In the summer you can enjoy hiking, climbing, nature trips through the park, Legendary St Briccius, tennis, biking and rafting. There is also the Grossglockner Mountain Cabin Lift - Schareck and the Pasterze Glacier Train which travels 1.300 m. Heiligenblut comes to life throughout the season to accommodate various types of adventure and scenery.
