or Heringsdorf accommodation? Heringsdorf is a classy seaside resort located in the heart of Dreikaiserbäder, a popular tourist destination in the island of Usedom, Germany. The resort’s coast is bordered by the Baltic Sea. Heringsdorf is an excellent base from which to tour the island of Usedom. Heringsdorf is a part of the famous Three Imperial Spas which offer a unique spa experience found only in Usedom. Sailing, kitesurfing and windsurfing are the top beach activities.
The resort is characterized by white sandy beaches, nature reserves, castles, lakes and historic villages. The pier in Heringsdorf is the longest in Europe and is splendid for walks along the seafront. There are two restaurants at the end of it with a lovely local cuisine and a nearby arcade with hairdressers, a cinema, a shell museum and a wax works. You can also take guided tours by canoe to the Viking burial sites in Menzlin. These ancient Viking settlements have a very detailed history of the era when Vikings ruled the land. There is an enchanting jungle on the island which features 2500 free-flying tropical butterflies, giant insects and spiders not seen in normal day to day life. From Heringsdorf, you can hop on over to Trassenheide where there is a huge butterfly farm with all size, shape and forms of butterflies. There are many scenic hiking trails and fishing areas in the town. Many German emperors used to make use of the spa facilities in the 19th and 20th centuries. The town has many beautiful buildings highlighting exceptional architecture. Many of them are easily accessible and include Villa Hintze, Villa Dorothea, Des Kaisers Pavillion and the Villa Oechsler. The Seeschloß and Villa Staudt as well as Villa Ikarus are mainstream attractions. Most of these buildings are characterized by Baroque architecture, fronts with protruding balconies, park like surroundings and lavishly designed doors. The Usedomer Musikfestival is a grand event in September to October and features performances by the NDR Symphony Orchestra, the trio Parnassus, and the soprano singer Anja Silja among others. Accommodations in Heringsdorf include holiday homes, exceptional villas, apartments and hotels, many of which are housed in 18th and 19th century buildings.
