or Hitchin accommodation? Hitchin is a small, typical English market town in Hertfordshire, accessible by car, train, and plane, via the Luton airport. Once in the town, you can walk everywhere, and even cycle to nearby villages, so there’s no need to rent a car! Market Place may no longer be the site of the market, but there are some nice historic buildings to see, and Bancroft, the main entrance to the town centre from the North, and a former cattle market, is also worth a visit. St Mary’s church is large – sometimes called Hitchin Cathedral, and the historic church is worth visiting, as well as the shops that line the church yard. For such a small town, there are also a remarkable number of festivals and celebrations – with the Rhythms of the World in July, the Vaisakhi Parade in April and others. Then there’s the travelling fairs, or visit the Market Theater. For such a small town, there’s a surprising variety of restaurants and pubs, and you might sample Thai food at Sirichai for instance, and follow it up with an evening at The Nightingale, sampling their real ale. While there aren’t any major hotel chains in Hitchin, the Sun Hotel, the Lord Lister and other small, local hotels are all great choices. - Browse the Hitchin Map or compare Hitchin accommodation from Hotels, Motels, B&Bs,
