You would get to Hoofddorp from Amsterdam by plane or by train from Schiphol, which is only one stop and takes about 4 minutes. In the Summer, there are quite a few festivals held in and around Hoofddorp, namely, Mystery Land, Concourse Hippique, Meerlive, Hoofddorp Culinair and Meer Jazz. city centre is like one huge shopping mall and is understandably very busy during the day, everyday, but once the shops close, the place slows down a lot. Most restaurants close at about 10pm. The town has about three bars, which are crowded with young people on Fridays and close at about 1am and on weekends at about 3am.
