or Houma accommodation? The city of Houma, Louisiana is the parish seat of the Terrebone Parish, and the largest city in the region. It has around thirty five thousand permanent residents, and is named for the Houma Indians, who once lived in the area. Like much of Louisiana, Houma is rich in Cajun culture. From the Cajun cuisine to the swamps and the music, the Cajun culture touches nearly everything. The town even has its own Mardi Gras celebrations, although not nearly on the same scale as New Orleans. Seafood is another big part of the Houma culture, and there are still crabbers, fishermen, and oystermen in the town and the surrounding areas. Make sure that while you are in town, you visit a local eatery and sample these delicacies. Other attractions in the town of Houma include monuments to the local armed forces, and an aquatic wildlife museum, as well as historic buildings. - Browse the Houma Map or compare Houma accommodation from Hotels, Motels, B&Bs,
