Kiruna is the northernmost city of Sweden and as it is situated a mere 145km from the Arctic Circle it has a Sub-Arctic climate with short cool summers and long cold winters. The city itself is rather warmer than its forested surroundings, though. Between May 30th and July 15th the sun doesn’t set at all and polar night, when the sun doesn’t rise, lasts from early December to early January.
