Searching for hotels in Iquitos (Peru) or Iquitos accommodation?  If you want to visit the Peruvian city of Iquitos, you’d better be prepared to go a little bit out of your way. That’s because the city is located in the heart of the Amazon Rain Forest, and is inaccessible by road! If you do make the journey to Iquitos, make sure that you plan to visit a part of the city known as Belen, which is a traditional village style area, with its interesting floating homes, a necessary adaptation to deal with floods. While you’re there, you can also browse the open air market for traditional foods, crafts and other items, although you will need a guide to cope with the language barrier! Whatever you do buy though, make sure it’s not any of the exotic birds, monkeys and other animals on offer – these are illegally caught and traded, and you could get in a lot of trouble with authorities!
