or Jammu accommodation? The City of Temples is the name often used to describe the largest city in the district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. The city was built by Raja Jamboo Lochan in the 14th Century so that the strong and the weak could live together in peace and harmony. Jammu is located in the foothills of the Himalayas along the Tawi River bank.
At the centre of the city, one can find the Raghunath Madir temple. It is the largest temple complex in northern India containing statutes of Hindu Gods as well as a collection of ancient texts and manuscripts. Other temples include the Bawey Wali Mata temple which can be found inside the Bahu Fort; Peer Kho cave temple and the Panchbakhtar temple.
Jammu city is also famous for its Palace, the Amar Mahal Palace is therefore a must see. It is located on within a few miles of the Tawi River and contains the city’s prize possession of antique books and painting, in particular the Nal-Damayanti series.
For tourist looking forward to enjoy the aquatic world, then the Bagh-I-Bahu aquarium should be visited. It is the largest underground aquarium in the Jammu area consisting of 24 caves with marine and freshwater fish species.
