Jekyll Island holds a reputation as a vacation destination, especially for elite families who belong to the Jekyll Island Club. These families purchase shares of the club for $600 each and only 100 members are admitted to maintain the club’s exclusivity.

The island boasts of numerous interesting locations and can be the setting for any type of leisure activity, from boating, biking, swimming, hunting, horseback riding, tennis, to name a few. Tours through the island’s historic areas are available for visitors. One attraction not to be missed is the Jekyll Island Club National Historic Landmark district. The island is also the home of the Tidelands Nature Center, the Jekyll Island Tennis Center, and the Georgia Sea Turtle Center.
