or Kanchanaburi accommodation? The city of Kanchanaburi, with a little over fifty thousand residents, is the capital of the province by the same name, in the central plains area of Thailand. It is a beautiful and historic city, and the location of the very famous Bridge Over the River Kwai. Buses and trains are the easiest means of reaching the city, and depart from Bangkok daily. The city is on the large and sprawling side, so making use of the local mopeds, songthaews, and bicycle rentals are a good idea for getting around. When in Kanchanaburi, make sure that you visit the Bridge Over the River Kwai, and while it is not the original bridge, you can walk across its historic span. The World War II Museum, on the other hand, houses a piece of the original, and there is another War Museum that holds artifacts that are even older. Tiger Temple, where you can see these amazing creatures fairly close up, is another popular attraction, although be warned that they are still wild, and you do need to sign a release form before visiting! For something a little less dangerous, but nonetheless beautiful, then a trip to the Erawan Falls, or the Sai Yok Noi falls are well worth it.
