Sweden)
or Karlstad accommodation? The city of Karlstad was founded by, and named for, King Karl IX in the late 16th century, in Varmland, Sweden. It is located on an island of the Klaralven River, and is near to lake Vanern, which is the largest freshwater lake in Europe. Karlstad has an airport, which receives daily flights from Copenhagen and Stockholm, or there are buses and trains that will also get you there. Walking and the local bus service should be all you need to see the sights in the town. Karlstad Cathedral, the Varmlands Museum, and the town centre are some of the biggest local attractions, while walking along the river and the lake are two of the most popular activities. In fact, for most of the year, Karlstad is a quiet, peaceful little town. In February, however, the Swedish rally passes through the area, bringing with it a flood of spectators. Stay in the Best Western, the Clarion, the Radisson SAS Plaza, or any one of several local hotels while in the city, and enjoy a meal at any one of a number of fine restaurants. There are also several bars in Karlstad, including the Blue Moon Bar, the Bishop’s Arms, and others. - Browse the Karlstad Map or compare Karlstad accommodation from Hotels, Motels, B&Bs,
