The building is China’s largest mosque built in the 15th century. Thousands of Muslims worship at this temple during the Religious Festivals. Other mausoleums of interest include the Tomb of Yusup Khass Hajip and the Tomb of Mahmud Kashgari. The Stone City, over 2000 years old, was an important capital during the 3rd century Han Dynasty and is an excellent historical point of interest.

Kashgar is home to several bazaars such as the colorful Mal Bazaar held on Sundays and the daily Yengi Bazaar. These markets provide the ultimate cultural experience of the town. The Three Immortals Buddhist Caves of the Han Dynasty is a must see, situated inside a cave on a cliff overlooking the river and highlighting several aspects of Buddhist culture. The stunning Karakul Lake, surrounded by the greenery of Mount Muztagata and Kongur Shan, is a wonderful place for recreational activities and cultural interests with the yurts and frame houses of Tajik ethnic group surrounding the lake. Mountaineering is the main sports activity here.
